The Family That “Preys” Together, Stays Together

The second day of doe week proved to be very successful for Foxwood Glenn Hunt Club's founding family.  Just after sunrise I heard the distant crack of a 243.  In true Southern fashion, it was "ladies first" on this morning.  This young lady delivered a well placed shot that proved lethal to her deer.  About thirty minutes later Adam took the second deer with a fifty yard shot (his second of the season).  The deer ran only nineteen yards before succumbing to her injuries.  My morning was quite boring compared to that of our two young hunters.  I was all ready to pack it in and head back to hunt camp headquarters to clean the two deer when Adam convinced me to try to jump a deer at the food plot.  While walking down the trail to the food plot I was surprised to see not one, but four deer running towards the woods.  I whistled, stopping the last doe just long enough for me to get off a quick shot with the 7mm magnum.  Sometimes a quick shot is all that you need.  Doe week has come and gone, but there are still many hunting days ahead for members of the Foxwood Glenn Hunt Club.
